Setting up a budget for your Wedding can be the most important step in preparation for your wedding. Weddings can very expensive. By creating a budget for your big day, you can insure that when you are done, you have not drained your bank account.
Here are some tips to save:
The wedding Dress
Start your shopping early. This will give you extra time to look for a great deal.
The simpler the dress the lower the price. Sometimes, simplier is more eligant.
The Reception Site
Fridays and Sundays are off days and cheaper days to book a reception site
Book early! Last minute bookings are usually more expensive.
If you rent tables or cutlery, return them on time. Avoid Late Fees.
Think about "off peak" months such as November to April
Food and Drink
If you don't mind an afternoon reception, you could save lots!
Chicken is always less expensive than beef, and most guests like it better too.
Serve wine and beer at your reception, instead of the hard drinks.
Set a limit to the bar, and/or close it during diner.
Photography
Think about approaching a school or varsity. They sometimes have an Advanced Photography course that may have a student who does weddings
Place disposable cameras on each of the tables for your guests to take photographs at the wedding. Don't forget to have the DJ announce to leave them at the end of the night.
Dont Forget: There is no substitute for a professional photographer. Your images will last a lifetime and the best images come from those who have the most experience.
Flowers
Use as much greenery as possible greenery in the church
Take ceremonial flowers along to the reception
Mix silk flowers with real flowers on the table. Silk flowers are beautiful and will save you a lot of money.
Book your florist early, many give nice discounts for booking in advance.
Music
Using a student who DJ's part time may save you money, but may not guarantee quality of sound.
Use in house DJ's or bands from your reception site if they have any available.
Remember that the musician/DJ you choose for your reception will play a big part in the success of your wedding, so it may in fact be worth paying a little extra to ensure great quality, and a great reception.
